DCS outdoor refrigerator ActiveSmart fault codes
Unlike the mechanical DCS cooking appliances, the 24-inch DCS outdoor refrigerators and refrigerator drawers are built on Fisher & Paykel ActiveSmart electronics — and that means they do display real digital fault and error codes. When the control detects a sensor reading or component fault outside its expected range, it shows a two-letter abbreviation or flashes a numbered fault pattern on the display. Reading that code correctly is the fastest route to an accurate DCS outdoor refrigerator repair, because each abbreviation points to a specific sensor, motor, valve, or circuit rather than a vague symptom.
What the ActiveSmart codes mean
The cabinet codes CL and CH indicate the fridge compartment is running too cold or too warm, while FL and FH report the freezer too cold or too warm. RL flags a refrigerator-section sensor or running-low condition. The ice and water group covers IM (ice maker fault), IF (ice maker or ice-full condition), and IW (water valve). Door codes DL (door left open) and DS (door switch fault) flag entry-related faults. FS signals filter service or a sensor fault, AL is a general alarm, HL is a high-limit condition, and CM reports a board communication error.
Numbered fault patterns
Beyond the two-letter abbreviations, an ActiveSmart unit can flash numbered Fault 1 through Fault 6 patterns that a technician reads as internal LED diagnostics. These flash sequences encode deeper faults — compressor circuit, defrost system, fan, or control-board problems — that are not meant for the owner to interpret on their own. Counting the flashes and their grouping tells our technicians exactly which subsystem the control has flagged, which is why noting the pattern before you call speeds the repair considerably.
Acting on a displayed code
Some codes have simple causes — a DL door alarm may just mean the door was left ajar, and an FS filter prompt may only need a filter change. Sensor faults (CL, CH, FL, FH, RL), communication errors (CM), and the numbered Fault codes call for a technician with ActiveSmart diagnostic access. Our certified team carries genuine RF24RE, RF24LE, and RF24DE parts and can read the LED flash patterns directly.
